Sun Sand and Uraak

I'm dreaming of glorious Goan summers when Boo and Boo would get on the bike and head to the coast. Weekends are the best in the South. Our favourite is a beach called Zalor near the village of Carmona, which lies before the Resort & Tourist infested Mobor. When the Boos went there, the shore was almost always theirs, and a few dogs who adopted the place.

A warm haze engulfs you as you enter the villages that dot the southern coastline- Benaulim, Varca, Carmona and the sights and slights along the way are a delight- a bird on a water buffalo, a pretty blue car, people fishing, old rooftops, friendly faces, local tavernas and endless green.

You stop at a local taverna to get a bottle of the best local brew- Uraak that is prepared to perfection during the hot months. This cashew concoction is an elixir during those scorching days... way better than the red wine, to make you forget.... Uraak, stay close to meee.... The boos love it as they listen to some reggae and smoke a beedi or two. Beedi is the local cigar, very thin but stronger than the classic miles and other factory made lights. beedis come rolled up in a prched leaf- phew...

The ocean in cool and inviting, on some days playful on others calm, on a few a little feisty... but the boos are natural water babies... they run to the water as the sea rushes to shore... and there, swimming, floating, diving, relaxing and frolicking in the ocean, the boos have each other, their little drink... blue skies above and the soft ocean floor below... they are in love... they are in paradise...
Oh I do dream of our summers... and await the next one...
